About The Wine
Inside the Bottle: There are few wines in our portfolio that come exclusively from vines that were planted before World War I. The age of these vines impart a depth of palate weight and a densely sappy fruit core that is rarely found in wine from younger vines. The aromas start out slow from the first pour but with every minute, followed by every refreshed glass, this rocket climbs further into outer space. Hot iron, blackberries, huckleberry, bramble, lavender, leather and forest floor fill your nose and palate. The texture is fresh with acidity, soft tannins and a glycerol, sappy beam of pure, sun-scorced red fruit. Aged exclusively in old oak barrels with very little sulfites added (only 20 ppm total!), the pedigree of the finely tuned and hardly touched vin de garde shows its full range with patient drinkers.
The label is a picture taken of Alain’s grandfather about the time of the planting of the vines. Yes, its a little bit strange and at the same time, it’s very cool.
