GROWER OVERVIEW
Voted Italy’s “Best Sommelier” in 1998 at age 23, author of numerous Italian wine books, and protege of Etna’s oracle and renaissance man, Salvo Foti, Federico Graziani’s wines hit the same high marks of the world’s greats. Located on the north face of Etna, Fede’s Nerello Mascalese-dominant Etna Rossos are harvested from a mix of new and ancient plantations (with some pre-phylloxera, own-rooted plants) in Passopisciaro and Montelaguardia. His field blend white, Mareneve, is grown at a frosty 1200m altitude and stands alone as a singular expression on Etna.
VINEYARD DETAILS
Etna Rosso is harvested from 15-year-old (2024) Nerello Mascalese (90%) and Nerello Cappuccio (10%) vines on a north-facing gentle slope between 600-800m on volcanic bedrock with shallow sandy and rocky topsoil.
CELLAR NOTES
100% destemmed and naturally fermented up to 32°C max. for 10-12 days with few and short pumpovers (depending on the vintage), then aged 20 months in steel before light filtration at bottling.
