Nicolas Pointeau and his wife Marielle work together on their Chinon terraces composed of deep river gravel beds, with some further away from the Loire on tuffeau limestone bedrock terraces with loamier soils than what would typically be found in Saumur-Champigny further to the west. Their entire vineyard stable of Cabernet Franc and a smaller quantity of Chenin Blanc is organically certified and their cellar practices are low-tech and straightforward with natural fermentations and aging in a mix of steel or very old 228-L French oak barrels.
